2. PERSONS WITH REDUCED MOBILITY

CityLink provides special arrangements for passengers with reduced mobility with prior booking. Passengers with reduced mobility shall travel alone on CityLink as long as they are self-supporting on board. This means that:

  • The passenger shall be able to eat unassisted
  • The passenger can administer his/her medication unassisted.
  • The passenger can move and locate emergency exits unassisted
  • The passenger can walk up and down the stairs and move about in an aircraft cabin but requires a wheelchair or other means for movements between the aircraft and the terminal, in the terminal between arrival and departure points.

CityLink requires that it be informed in advance of persons with reduced mobility, illnesses or old age. If such a person is unable to lift themselves, reach an emergency exit unaided, communicate with the crew and unfasten a seat belt; such persons must be accompanied by two persons who will assist them during embarking and disembarking the aircraft and in cases of an emergency.

3. BLIND, DEAF AND SPECIAL NEEDS PASSENGERS

Prior information is vital for these passengers with special needs. CityLink will provide assistance at check-in, boarding and departure.

4. UNACCOMPANIED MINOR

We’re happy to accept unaccompanied children on flights from the ages of 3 to 14.

From 3 to 5 years of age:

An CityLink staff accompanies the UM from check-in, until after the flight, meeting relatives of the UM.
We will only accept these UM in our direct flights with cabin crew on board. We shall not accept them in connecting flights.

From 6 to 14 years of age:

An CityLink Express staff accompanies the UM from check-in until after the flight, meeting relatives of the UM.

Before you book your travel it is worth noting:

  • Children aged between 5 and 14 are always classified as unaccompanied minors when travelling alone and must use the unaccompanied minors’ service.
  • Children aged between 15 and 18 may choose to use the unaccompanied minors service if they wish. However, ordinarily, we assume they will not require it.
  • What documents are needed when my child travels alone?
  • The parent/guardian must fill in the UMNR form before/at check-in.
  • If the child has any special needs or medical conditions, again, please be sure to let us know at the time you book.

Drop-off/Pick-up information

When dropping off the unaccompanied minor, the parent/guardian may NOT leave the airport until the following criteria are met:

  • The parent/guardian has a signed copy of the UMNR form.
  • The UMNR is onboard the aircraft.
  • The aircraft has taken off.
  • The parent/guardian's name, address and cell phone number are all documented on the minor's reservation.

Help through the airport

A customer service staff will meet your child and assist your child through a fast smooth and friendly check-in and will be with them all the way through the airport until we hand your child to our crew on board.

Priority boarding

Families and unaccompanied minors always board the plane first. That gives them more time to get settled, our cabin crew can help them to stow their hand luggage and make them comfortable.

Onboard care

To enhance their journey experience and make them feel at home, let us know whether they’d like to sit by the window or the aisle.

What is the fare for an unaccompanied minor?

Children aged 2 years to 11 years pay 70% of the adult fare.

How will I know that my child has arrived at the destination?

Whichever end of the journey you are at, you will be informed about the expected time of arrival. You must arrange for your child to be met at the airport or airstrip.

How will my child collect baggage(s) on arrival?

We will help your child with the bags through until he/she is met by you or your representative in the Arrival hall.

When picking up an unaccompanied minor, please arrive at the airport no later than 30 minutes before the scheduled arrival.

5. MEDICAL CERTIFICATE/ FORM

CityLink will request you to provide a medical certificate if:

  • You need oxygen during the flight (the medical certificate should also specify the number of litres of oxygen per minute that is required).
  • You travel with a Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC).
  • You want to take medical luggage with you (maximum weight: 15 kilograms).
  • You are pregnant and there are complications in your pregnancy.
  • You or your child contracted a contagious disease. The medical certificate should state that the disease is no longer contagious.
  • You have had a medical operation within 8 days prior to departure.
  • You have a body part in a closed plaster cast. The medical certificate should state that you are fit to fly with a closed plaster cast. If you do not have this medical certificate, you have to ensure that the plaster cast is sawn through across its entire length; otherwise, you will not be accepted on the flight.

Please note the following:

  • A medical statement issued by an (independent) physician should state that you will not suffer any detrimental effects from travelling in a pressurized/ unpressurized cabin or that you will need to travel with medical luggage.
  • The medical certificate needs to be in English.
  • The medical certificate needs the physician's signature. The certificate may be issued no more than 7 days before the departure of your outbound flight.
  • Because travelling in an unpressurized cabin could cause some medical conditions to exacerbate, we advise you to ask a physician for a medical statement if you have an ear infection or fever.
